Note:  To access and use the BakeSmart Gift Card module you must have the Pro or Enterprise plan.


This article will discuss how to create and activate gift cards that are sold to a customer.  To learn about creating a gift card without a sale please see {{this.article}}.


To sell a gift card there first needs to be a gift card product.  To create a product go to Menu > Item Setup > Products and click the new ( ) button at the top of the screen.


Give the product a name, most likely Gift Card, and set the product type to Gift Card / Non-Sale.  To sell gift cards in any denomination set the product as Price Type - Variable Price.  If you would like to sell cards only in specific denominations you will need a product for each denomination.



Once the Gift Card product is set up it will be available for sale in the POS.  Note: The user ringing up the sale must have the permission to Issue Gift Cards to be able to sell and activate gift cards.




Select the Gift Card product, set the amount of the card in the price field and total the sale.



On the Total Sale screen there will be an "Activate/Refill Gift Cards" button.  Click the button to activate a new gift card or refill an active gift card.



A screen will appear where the card can be swiped or keyed in for activation.



When the activation is successful BakeSmart will display a notification and then go back to the Total Sale screen to accept payment.
